Modern furniture is often full of potentially toxic synthetic chemicals, eco-friendly furniture minimises the use of chemicals by using natural materials such as solid wood, wicker, wool, natural latex rubber, organic cotton and hemp, hessian and natural feather filling. It should also be long-lasting and able to be recycled at the end of its lifetime. Any wood used should be from a sustainable source, not from old-growth forests or tropical rainforests.
Make Your House A Home recently discovered d-Bodhi, a company that is all about using resources in the most efficient way; when recycling timber they use even the smallest off-cuts most would just discard. What looks like useless scrap wood is taken from old disused houses, bridges and railroads and transformed into beautiful furnishings for the home. The quality, design, environmental conscience and relevance to our Australian lifestyle makes d-Bodhi an obvious choice for us to add to our core range.
To compliment the new recycled timber range, makeyourhouseahome has developed an ECO-FRIENDLY sofa - the "Charli" that ticks all the boxes when it comes to environmentally responsible sofa manufacture that doesn't compromise on design or comfort... every part of the manufacturing process has been carefully thought through so that the "new" sofa's footprint is very small. It is a sofa that has the bones to take on many lives as it gets handed down from generation to generation. Being a “classic” style allows it to be dressed according to its environment, it would be equally at home in a modern or traditional setting.
